The 77th Annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6 in Sundance Square. It will be the “tallest live Christmas tree in Texas” and will light up at 6:30 p.m. The celebration will include live music from Marie Osmond and a countdown by Mayor Mattie Parker.
Transit
Arlington plans to bring air taxis to the area within the next two years. California-based Overair announced a partnership last week with DFW Airport + Arlington Municipal Airport for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) operations. Initial plans call for passengers to be flown between the airports and Arlington’s Entertainment District.
Cause
Did you know Americans waste 312 million pounds of food on Thanksgiving, according to ReFED? If you’re left with excess packaged foods after the holiday, local food banks like Funky Town Fridge is the perfect place to donate. Nonperishable items can be dropped off at four locations around Fort Worth.
Outdoors
The Fort Worth Zoo welcomed a new black-and-white colobus monkey. Corey — named after World Series MVP Corey Seager — was born at the end of October and is just a few weeks old. You can see Corey with the rest of the troop inside the World of Primates.
Seasonal
Cowboy Santa will arrive in the Stockyards this Friday, Nov. 24. Santa’s Grand Arrival Parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. and include festive happenings like storytime with Mrs. Claus and a Sounds of the Season concert. The day will wrap up with a tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m.

Harrison Ford was in Cowtown earlier this month and dined at the downtown Italian restaurant 61 Osteria. According to the Star-Telegram, the actor frequents Fort Worth often to update his helicopter pilot training at Bell Helicopter. Transform 1012 selects final architect team
Transform 1012 to convert a former KKK “klavern” into a cultural hub
Narrowed down from four design teams, the architects will transform the former KKK Klavern at 1012 N. Main St. into a vibrant cultural hub.
The facility will feature state-of-the-art performance spaces, healing services for communities targeted by hate groups, exhibits dedicated to social justice and civil rights, and an outdoor urban agriculture and artisan marketplace.
Over the upcoming months, Transform 1012 and the design team will hold community meetings to collaborate with the public on the adaptive plan.
Crews will break ground in 2025 and The Fred Rouse Center is expected to open in 2026.
