“Eat well” — we certainly did. We stopped at James Provisions in Hurst to taste test the newly opened concept touting whole foods + natural ingredients. The restaurant’s motto and menu did not disappoint.

Located at 290 Grapevine Hwy., the mercantile is a spin off of a popular Brooklyn, NY restaurant founded by North Richland Hills native Deborah Williamson. The original James concept ran from 2008 to 2022, but closed when Williamson returned home to Texas.

The 80-seat, “fine-causal” restaurant prioritizes farm-to-table ingredients from local growers like Aledo’s River Valley Farms and Cameron’s 44 Farms.

What we tried

  • Goldie | Sip a refreshing zero proof bevvy with turmeric, ginger + lemon.
  • Spring Burger | Fill your tank with grass-fed beef, garden pesto, and pickled onions on brioche with a side of roasted potatoes.
  • Salmon tacos | Opt for a lighter portion with fresh fish, topped with purple cabbage, avocado, and jalapeno dressing.
  • Berry Oat Crisp | Don’t skip dessert with this gluten-free fruit creation with lemon verbena whipped cream.
