A facelift is on the books for the historic Stockyards Hotel that would add a $20 million refresh to the anchor of the historic cultural area.

Stockyards Heritage Development Co. — a partnership between Majestic Realty Co. and Hickman Companies that were responsible for the development of Mule Alley and Hotel Drover — filed a permit to remodel the 1907 hotel.

The 26,500-sqft construction project would run from January 2025 to July 2026. Designed by Dallas-based Nunzio Marc DeSantis Architects, the renovations include:

  • Demolition and remodels for guest rooms
  • A new front canopy
  • Renovated exterior patio
  • Revised public spaces

The Stockyards Hotel was once know as Hotel Chandler.

The original wood-framed hotel was demolished in 1913 and replaced with a three-story brick building. In the 1980s, Marshall Young and Tom Yater restored the structure in a “style befitting the former glory days of the Texas Cattlemen” before Fort Worth Heritage Development Co. purchased it in 2022.

The news comes on the heels of the $1 billion Stockyards expansion, for which Majestic Realty, Hickman Companies, and other private developers will contribute $630 million.
