Ready to set your worries adrift? Let your stress float away with a new spa experience on South Main Street.

In 1954, neurophysiologist Dr. James E. Lilly developed float therapy as a way to naturally detox the body, reduce inflammation, and allow the mind to rest through sensory deprivation. Seventy years later, the company that created the world’s first open float rooms has expanded to Fort Worth at City Cave Near Southside.

Willow Park residents Rusty and Jen Watkins are the latest owners of the Australian-born company’s second US franchise, after Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Drawn to City Cave’s offerings following Jen’s journey with chronic pain, the Watkins’ are bringing the company’s core values of abundance, balance, collaboration, and empathy to the Cowtown spa scene.

Unlike traditional float pods, tanks, or cabins, the three float rooms at City Cave give guests a private space to meditate in a shallow pool. The skin-temperature water contains 1000 pounds of medical-grade Epsom salt, and other minerals like magnesium that help with sleep, energy, and blood pressure regulation, which allow guests to float without any effort — think: floating in the Black Sea, but a lot closer to home. The one-hour float sessions are cued with the client’s choice of white noise, sea, or rain forest sounds for a calming atmosphere in a dark room.

The center also features three infrared saunas — including a larger wheelchair accessible sauna coming soon — three massage therapy rooms, and a relaxation room where guests can rest between appointments or reacclimate to daily life before heading out the door. Plus, guests can rejuvenate with a bottle of Mineral Wells’ Crazy Water or a warm cup of blue butterfly pea flower tea with local honey.

To try out City Cave’s services, book an appointment or share the gift of relaxation with a gift card. Don’t miss out on opening specials like buy two, get one free offers, couples combinations, and value packs.
