Proud Mary, keep on burning

Looking back at Tina Turner’s performances in Fort Worth.

Tina and Ike Turner in 1964, the first year she performed in Fort Worth.

She was simply, the best — and the world will forever miss her. Music legend Tina Turner died earlier this week at 83 years old, so we’re looking back at six concerts the Queen of Rock and Roll performed in Cowtown.

In 1964, “Live! The Ike & Tina Turner Show” was recorded at the Skyliner Ballroom on Jacksboro Highway. From May 1966 to June 1986, Tina performed four times — twice at the Casino Ballroom, once at the North Side Coliseum, and again at Will Rogers Auditorium.

The Grammy-winning artist returned to the Tarrant County Convention Center Arena in March 1972 before performing her last Fort Worth concert at Billy Bob’s Texas in January 1982.

Her music has been memorialized on stages across the world and continues to do so. Mark your calendars to see “Tina - The Tina Turner Musical” at Bass Performance Hall in February 2024.
