Calling all cinephiles in the Lone Star State. Rolling from Thurs., Nov. 11-Sun., Nov. 14, this year’s Lone Star Film Festival celebrates 15 years of movie-lovers gathering in Cowtown.

About the festival

The Lone Star Film Society provides educational programs, workshops + screenings to the community throughout the year, and the festival is their culminating annual event. Founded by the late Fort Worth native + actor Bill Paxton, community collaboration is a high priority for the festival.

Over the past 15 years, the festival has grown to attract top filmmakers, producers, industry professionals + film enthusiasts. This year’s festival will screen 85+ films ranging from narrative features and shorts to documentaries and competition films.

Local Spotlight

Each year during the film festival, the Lone Star Film Society hosts a gala + afterparty. At this year’s gala, a hometown hero will be honored with the 2021 Spotlight Award.

Channing Godfrey Peoples is a Fort Worth native who made her directorial debut in 2020 with her film Miss Juneteenth (filmed in Fort Worth). As a director, she has been praised for her authentic + timely storytelling.

Other gala honorees include Richard Linklater, Ethan Hawke + Michael Martin Murphy.
