Two Fort Worth suburbs are getting some major recognition — both Southlake and Flower Mound were ranked as some of the best small cities in the US.

WalletHub’s 2022 ‘Best Small Cities in America’ study ranked 1,300 cities with a population between 25,000 and 100,000 in five overall areas: affordability, economic health, education & health, quality of life and safety.

Southlake (~30-minute drive from downtown) came in at No. 35 overall. The suburb ranked the lowest for housing costs + No. 5 for the homeownership rate. While Southlake scored well in affordability, economic health, and safety, it scored low for education and quality of life.

Flower Mound (~40-minute drive from downtown) was ranked close behind at No. 89 overall. It also scored close to the top for affordability + economic health. It was ranked in the middle for safety and near the back end for education and quality of life.
