Let’s take a walk together, Cowtown. Our city is blessed with abundant greenery and open spaces, so we’re here to give you some inspo to get outside and into the great outdoors.
Trinity Trails
Location, location, location. Smack in the middle of the city, these trails are arguably the favorite spot for Cowtown solo daytime hikers. Distances range from around 2.5 to 5.5 miles, and you’ll find plenty of people running + walking their pups along the river here, too.
Loughridge Lake
This 0.9-mile track is a perfect option for anyone in the mood for a quick and easy walk with a stroller or a dog. With plenty of visibility, it’s popular among families and joggers in North Fort Worth.
Foster Park Trail
The mostly paved trail is the longest on this list at almost 11 miles. The loop connects with the Trinity River, and spends much of its time alongside the banks of the gorgeous waterways.
Eagle Mountain Lake
Speaking of gorgeous waterways, beautiful lake views await at this park’s three different trails, spanning between three and seven miles. Heads up: Dogs aren’t allowed here, but there’s plenty to keep the rest of the family entertained.

Take a second to enjoy the view at Eagle Mountain Lake.

Riverbottom Trail Loop
The preserved ecosystem on this loop lends itself to abundant wildlife opportunities, and is located on Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge Land. That merits a $5 entry fee, but the birding makes it a steal.
Gateway Park West Loop
At a smidgen under four miles, mountain bikers and bird-watchers are often found here. Scenic river views make it ideal for springtime strolling, and there’s a nearby disc golf course too.
Arcadia Trail
Choose between the paved main path or the many small side paths along this point-to-point trail. The native tallgrass prairie here once stretched all the way into Canada.
Lone Wolf Loop
Elevation changes, rocks, riverbends, and forest make this a challenging 3.6-mile loop. Hikers, runners, dog-walkers, and mountain-bikers can all pause among natural beauty for a breather.
