Phase one of three is complete for the re-imagined and remodeled Eastside YMCA Community Impact Center. On Monday, Jan. 27, the YMCA celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony event on campus.

The Eastside YMCA sits on 16.4 acres of land on Sandy Lane. The first phase of re-development included renovating its existing building, outdoor area, room for learning, fitness room, community kitchen, and youth areas. Starting in 2021, the YMCA hosted several sessions during which residents suggested the types of services they’d find most effective and impactful to the community. Future renovations include building a full-sized gymnasium, revamping the outdoor sports field, and establishing an on-site childcare center.

The impact center is one of 20 Good For You Healthy Hub destinations. This initiative by the Texas Health Community Hope in part with Cook Children’s Health Care System provides fresh, no-cost produce, cooking utensils, nutrition information, and cooking demonstrations for families in need.

It really does take a village. Thanks to the support from the City of Fort Worth, the Sid Richardson Foundation, and more, the total cost of the project is estimated to be about $16 million.
