Nature lovers will have a double dose of unique events to enjoy this month as millions of monarch butterflies move through the Texas Funnel and make their way from Canada to Mexico.

The arrival of the butterflies will be celebrated with opportunities to learn more about the insect, its migratory patterns, and the beneficial plants the monarchs depend on.

Flight of the Monarch , Grand Prairie | Saturday, Oct. 14

Celebrate the remarkable journey with a family-friendly festival at EpicCentral with live music, activities, and food vendors. Participants can even help release hundreds of butterflies as they take to the skies to begin their journey.

Butterfly Flutterby , Grapevine | Saturday, Oct. 21

The 26th annual event will begin with a butterfly costume parade — starting across the street from Grapevine City Hall. Children and pets are invited to wear their favorite butterfly, flower, or caterpillar costumes for a chance to win a prize.

Live butterfly releases will also occur at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens .
