Start warming up your dance moves. It’s time for the 2nd annual Jambaloo Music Festival.
Jambaloo is a free (that’s right — free) week-long North Texas music festival, featuring 30 local music acts, running from Saturday, Feb. 7 to Sunday, Feb. 15. This year, the number of participating venues has upped from four to 14.
Symposium kickoff
Starting the party strong, Jambaloo kicks off with a symposium this Saturday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m., at Tulips. The panel features two Grammy Award winners and two locals from the Texas Music office and the Fort Worth Music Office to discuss DFW’s rich music scene.
The lineup
Pop band Tripping Daisy, rock band Low Cut Connie, and American Idol’s Catie Turner are among the performers to take the stage. Check the full list of performances and showtimes so you never miss a beat.
Yesterday, applications opened for the Texas Education Freedom Accounts. Eligible families can receive up to $10,400 to use at a private school, and special needs families can earn up to $30,000. Applications close on Tuesday, March 17. (WFAA)
Eat
This weekend, FTW’s newest barbecue restaurant will launch a second soft opening. Owner Tony Ramadani took Texas barbecue to Saudi Arabia in 2018 and now has returned. Try it out this Thursday, Feb. 5 to Saturday, Feb. 7, from 5-10 p.m., or until sellout. The grand opening will be announced soon. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
Kids
The 68th Annual Dallas Regional Spelling Bee is Saturday, March 7. Last year, a student from Allen went on to represent DFW and win the Scripps title in DC. Watch 26 eighth graders or younger compete for three spots at nationals. It’s not open to the public — livestream on WFAA+.
Theater
Broadway Dallas just released its 2026-2027 season, and it includes household names, such as “The Sound of Music” and “Harry Potter.” Season tickets are available now, and tickets for opening night on Tuesday, Sept. 8, are dropping soon. (NBC DFW)
Outdoors
The city of Fort Worth intends to update its park photography policy. But first, the parks department will host an input session to give professionals and amateurs a chance to voice their opinions. Stay tuned for the update.

Yesterday, Phil the Groundhog saw his shadow and declared, “six more weeks of winter abound.” If the cold has you retreating indoors, warm up with a visit to one of Fort Worth’s 17 museums — or curl up with a book tied to Cowtown.

She’s choosin’ Texas — at least for one night. Country singer-songwriter Ella Langley is bringing her “Dandelion” tour to Fort Worth, with a stop at Dickies Arena on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 6.
Silly autocorrect keeps wanting me to change “Jambaloo” to “jambalaya.” No — Jambaloo is NOT another name for the spicy Cajun comfort meal. It’s an eight-day celebration of local music. I went last year and had a ton of fun. See it from my POV.
