Welcome back to FTWtoday’s Plan Ahead. We’ll skip the chit-chat. Let’s get straight down to the biggest events we recommend this month.
Heal the Land: A Conversation with Lucille Contreras | Monday, Oct. 6 | 5:30-6:50 p.m. | BLUU Ballroom, TCU campus | Learn how the Texas Tribal Buffalo Project is connecting ancestral relationships with Texas land — in honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
Mainstay Farms Fall Festival | Fridays-Sundays until Sunday, Nov. 2 | Times vary | Mainstay Farms, Cleburne | Pick out pumpkins to take home, snag photos in the flower fields, enjoy food, and sip on wine from the Wine Terrace at DFW’s “biggest backyard.”

Did you know? Language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, impact one in five individuals.
Key School and Training Center, a local nonprofit organization that supports students with learning differences, invites the community to participate in events that highlight and address these academic challenges
Here’s what’s coming up:
Experience Dyslexia | Thursday, Oct. 9 | A simulation-based workshop with hands-on activities that demonstrate the academic challenges students with dyslexia, ADHD, and processing disorders face.
Admissions Open House | Wednesday, Oct. 22 | Learn more about the admissions process, individualized schedules, small class sizes, Academic Language Therapy, and more.
The Key School and Training Center provides a variety of programs for Tarrant County students and hosts ongoing workshops, guest speakers, and activities. See the website for details.
A new coffee shop has taken up residence in the former Beast & Company on Magnolia Avenue. Bread & Better Life Cafe’s offerings not only include the hot beverage and baked goods, but free workshops on a range of topics as well, including financial literacy and marriage strengthening. Transit
If you’re wondering where the blue buses have gone, FTWtoday got the scoop. Trinity Metro has temporarily pulled the Blue Line buses off its route due to a recall with the manufacturer. The agency has enlisted a substitute fleet labeled “Blue Line Complimentary,” so your commute can keep on rolling. (CultureMap Fort Worth)

Cutting Edge Haunted House was just ranked the scariest in the world. The 55-minute spooky attraction, located inside a historic meatpacking plant, is known for its fearsome production. It even trains its employees through a program called “Boo University.” Try it out this Friday. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
Kids
Bring your little LEGO fan to the Brick Convention this Saturday, Oct. 4-Sunday, Oct. 5, at Dickies Arena. Tickets start at $14, and a portion of the proceeds go towards “Creations for Charity.” Experience massive LEGO displays, LEGO masters, photo opportunities, a LEGO pit, and more.
Civic
WFAA Reporter Scoop Jefferson reminds us how to pay off court fees and citations, such as traffic violations, using VanillaDirect Pay (launched one year ago). Just take the court-issued barcode to participating retailers, like 7-Eleven, and pay cash. No credit card needed — and certainly no courthouse visit needed.
Sports
Manager Bruce Bochy has parted ways with the Texas Rangers after three seasons — including the 2023 World Series win. What does this mean for the remainder of the season? Get the biggest stories every day from the local experts of the Texas Rangers with Locked On’s daily podcasts.
The Buy
A great lightweight women’s sweater. Choose your favorite color (we’re eyeing navy and burgundy) and pair this basic top with jeans for an easy outfit this fall. Bonus: Some colors are 24% off.

If your eyes glazed over BBMAK in the Events section today, hear me out for just a second.
In case you’re wondering where I’ve been the past few days, I’ve been in Florida at Ladyworld — a three-day female-focused festival that included live music, exercise classes, activations, and not to mention lots and lots of beach time.
One of the live music performances was none other than BBMAK, so I was honestly pretty surprised seeing their name on Tulips’ lineup. Here’s a refresher of the early 2000s boy band for my fellow millennials. I’m super tempted to buy tickets for tonight just to say I’ve seen them twice in one week.
BBMAK performed at Ladyworld in Miramar Beach on Saturday, Sept. 28.
