Last month, Gov. Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 22, allowing the Texas Comptroller to deposit $300 million into the state’s filming fund every two years. TLDR — filming in the state is about to increase.
What does this mean for you? Texas residents — with little to no acting experience — can apply online to participate in several state film projects, including hit shows like Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman” and “Lioness.”

The National Medal of Honor Museum will host FreedomFest: a Fourth of July celebration. Former Police Chief Neil Noakes has accepted a new role. Noakes — who retired from the FWPD last month — is joining the American Warrior Association to become the next Chief of Strategic Advancement. The far north neighborhood Sendera Ranch is gaining a Kroger Marketplace. Last week, ground broke over the future site of the big box grocer. The 122,000-sqft will house a Starbucks, a sushi counter + a Murray’s cheese counter, and is expected to open this fall. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
Transit
With the population booming, City Council approved an economic analysis for a proposed high-speed rail between Tarrant County and Dallas. Fort Worth will spend up to $75,000, while Arlington spends $183,000+. The analysis will help city leaders decide the proper initiatives for North Texas. (WFAA + Fort Worth Report)
