City Editor Elizabeth here. In November, I attended the Fort Worth Opera’s (FWO) 2024-2025 season-opening performance — a rendition of Louisa May Alcott’s 1868 classic novel “Little Women.” As a 90s baby who grew up loving the 1994 cinematic adaptation, I knew I didn’t want to miss it. Seeing as it is the oldest opera company in the state of Texas, FWO has no plans of slowing down and has announced three upcoming shows this spring.

❤️ “The Elixir of Love”

Get tickets to listen to the English adaptation of Donizetti’s opera showing Saturday, Jan. 18-Sunday, Jan. 19 at IM Terrell Academy. The tale follows a poor man named Nemorino who tries to win the heart of Adina using a magic love potion.

🎙️ The McCammon Voice Competition

Since 1985, the McCammon Voice Competition has brought young operatic singers to light. The contestants will take the stage on Sunday, March 23 at Kimbell Piano Pavilion.

On Saturday, I visited City Cave in Near Southside for the second time. ICYMI, City Cave is a newly opened float and wellness retreat specializing in infrared light therapy, sauna, float therapy + massages. I would say everyone needs to try float therapy at least once. Hit us with your questions if you’re apprehensive.
