Last season of the Fort Worth Opera (FWO) brought us an international singing competition and a hilarious twist on the classic “Cinderella” story. Editor Elizabeth here, and I can attest to that. Watching the 2024-2025 FWO season closer “La Cenerentola” in Italian was sure a delight — even if I couldn’t understand a single word.

Now, the FWO is back for its 80th season, keeping it the oldest opera company in the state of Texas. Although the FWO’s last performance inside the W.E. Scott Theater for a while was last season, the production has no plans of slowing down. Continue reading for details about its six upcoming shows.

🎶 Jonathan Tetelman in concert

The season opens with the internationally acclaimed tenor on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU. Tetelman will be accompanied onstage by conductor and pianist Michael Recchiuti. “Dinner with the Stars” will immediately precede the performance.

🥀 “La Belle et La Bête”

The FWO will perform one act from “Beauty and the Beast” synchronized to film projected behind the musicians. Grab tickets to see it at the Ridglea Theater between Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22.

🤠 “Cowboys & Culture: A Concert”

In partnership with the Amon Carter Museum, the opera will sing a musical love letter to Fort Worth, blending operatic singing and Western-themed repertoire. The one-night show coincides with the annual Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, on Feb. 5, 2026 at 6:30 p.m.

🦋 “Madama Butterfly”

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will bring Giacomo Puccini’s score to life when it returns to Fort Worth for its second and third time — the first being in 1947. Tickets are available for April 10, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. and April 12, 2026 at 2 p.m at Bass Performance Hall.

Other highlights this season include two holiday specials, 2025 Wintersong and “Amahl and the Night Visitors.
