Take to the skies: Granbury’s Pecan Plantation offers fly-in living

Attention aviation enthusiasts — ever wished you could walk out your back door and hop in your Cessna 182 to zip off to work? Well now you can, at Granbury’s fly-in community Pecan Plantation.
The 4,200-acre, master-planned development is located ~40 miles southwest of Fort Worth on what used to be the largest pecan orchard in the country. Managed by Patten Properties, the development boasts amenities across earth, water, and air.
Aviation enthusiasts can store their personal planes in on-site private hangars.
Pecan Plantation just added a second airpark. The community has two 3,000-ft paved runways where residents can land private planes — and then taxi them to personal hangars on each lot.
The community is divided into ~3,200 residential lots and has 2,500 homes and counting. New phases of housing are set for development along the newly opened Landings Airpark.
With access to concrete taxiways and a self-service fuel station, the lots range 0.3-7+ acres + start at $179,900. Future homes must be a minimum of 2,000 sqft and can be constructed by any home builder, but don’t have a construction time frame.
In addition to airparks, explore golf courses, parks, and water amenities.
For those who like to keep their heads out of the clouds, Pecan Plantations residents are spoiled for choice with:
Two 18-hole golf courses
Tennis and basketball courts
Baseball and soccer fields
Two pools with diving boards and lap lanes
Stables with stalls for private horse boarding
A covered archery range
Three parks along 17 miles of the Brazos River
A marina on Lake Granbury
Plus, by purchasing a property in the development, homeowners become members of the Pecan Plantation Country Club, which features a clubhouse with dining options and hotel rooms. Everything you need and more — the community even has its own grocery store, bank, pharmacy, medical offices, and dry cleaners.
