🏆 It’s playoff time

We were blessed recently by the sports gods. Until last fall, the Texas Rangers hadn’t made the postseason since 2016 — and had never won a World Series until they came through with a title win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. But now it’s playoff time again.

Some different sports ball squads are up: the Dallas Mavericks, who last won a championship in the 2010-11 season, and the Dallas Stars, who last won a championship in 1998-99.

What should we expect?

🏀 Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks missed the playoffs last year but improved 12 games this season, winning the Southwest Division. Their first-round series will be against the Los Angeles Clippers, commencing Sunday, April 21 at 2:30 p.m. on ABC.

With potential NBA MVP Luka Dončić, who led the Mavs in points, assists, and rebounds, the team has only lost four times since March 7. They come in hot, but the Clippers took two out of three from Dallas this season. In their last meeting, on December 20, the Clippers won (120-111) with 30 points from their own superstar, Kahwi Leonard, formerly a champion with the San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors.

The Clippers are balanced with more star-level players, from Leonard to Paul George and James Harden, but there’s no denying the Mavericks are playing some of their best ball. If Dallas escapes the first series, they will face either the No. 1 or No. 8 seed in the second round.

⛸️ Dallas Stars

The Stars finished the regular season as the best team in the Western Conference. Hopes are high. But the NHL playoffs are a grind, and it’s been decades since the green and white won it all.

With the expansion of Texas’ Compassionate Use Program (TCUP), Texans have more access than ever to treat different conditions with medical marijuana. We’re tapping into the experts at Texas Cannabis Clinic (TCC) to help weed through common myths about medical marijuana.

Here’s what they had to say:

Fact or Fiction? PTSD, muscle spasms, and neuropathy are the only conditions that medical marijuana treats.
This is fiction. There are 150+ qualifying conditions that can be treated with the drug under the TCUP.

Fact or Fiction? You need an in-person appointment with TCC.
This is fiction. TCC is 100% telemedicine. Take the short appointment from the comfort of your own home.

Fact or Fiction? You won’t get a medical marijuana card.
This is fact. Texas doesn’t provide cards but if you qualify, you’ll receive a prescription and a certification letter.

Not sure if you qualify for treatment? Explore different qualifying conditions.

If you’re ready to work with TCC, make an appointment and use coupon code 6AM420 to get $40 off (must complete the appointment by Tuesday, April 30).

How to master MAIN ST Arts Festival

The MAIN ST. Arts Festival hath returned to Fort Worth for Year 37, and last week, we posed two queries about your festival dining preferences.

About two-thirds of our readers eat at the festival when they go. That’s good, because 2024 has an amazing array of culinary vendors.

To plan, begin by consulting the map, noting six food and drink locations labeled F2 through F7. Need more tips? Check out what your fellow readers recommended:

Craft beer | Situated throughout the festival, sample options from Revolver, Rahr, and Blue Moon.

Margs | MAIN ST. partnered with specialty vendor 31 Degrees for margaritas this year, and they are available throughout the fair.

Nachos | Cowboy brisket nachos ($16) are at Texas Skillet (F4). If you’re a little more traditional, Bobby’s Fajitas (F7) has cheese nachos for $8.

Empanadas | 3F Premier Catering (F3) is your best bet, with options from $11 to $28.

Smoked Turkey Legs | Leisure Foods (F2 and F7) serves ‘em up for $20 — bear in mind, they’re huge.
