Catch the all-Texas ALCS in the Arlington Entertainment District

It’s going be a good ol’ fashioned Texas showdown as the Rangers take on the Houston Astros in the MLB American League Championship Series starting on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 7:15 p.m. in Houston.

For the first time ever, the Texas Rangers will face their Lone Star State rivals in the post-season. Watch the game on FOX or head to the Arlington Entertainment District to channel that home-field advantage.

The Rangers return to Globe Life Field for Game 3 on Wednesday, Oct. 18, Game 4 on Thursday, Oct. 19, and Game 5 (if necessary) on Friday, Oct. 20. If tickets are sold out — or out-of-the-park expensive — bookmark this guide to get in on the action without going to the game.

Where to watch

Head to Texas Live! to watch every play on a 100-ft HD screen while you snack and sip at eight restaurants and four bars. Don’t want to fight the crowds? Grab a table at The Social House and chow down on specials. Plus, catch the restaurant’s shuttle to the ballpark.

Where to stay

Coming in from out of town? Book a night at Live! by Loews Arlington and enjoy a drink on the private rooftop terrace. Or, grab a room at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel and hop on the complimentary Arlington Trolley to get around.

It’s not only sports — Arlington is also home to beautiful outdoor spaces like Richard Greene Linear Park.

What to do before the game

Where’s the fun in showing up for the first pitch? Make a day of it with a walk through the Entertainment District Art Trail, a picnic in Richard Greene Linear Park, or thrilling rides at Six Flags Over Texas.

How to get there

Skip the stress and pay for parking ahead of home games or grab a rideshare to be dropped off near Lot C on Stadium Drive. Note: Rideshare pickups are not allowed on Randoll Mill Road after the games. Parking is free at Texas Live! during away games.

Feeling superstitious? We’ve rounded up a checklist of local activities on Friday the 13th (commonly known as the most unlucky day of the year). Do one or all of them — just don’t attempt them under a ladder.

Adopt a black cat.

Did you know that black cats are the least likely to be adopted? You can do your part to fix that stat by stopping by a Fort Worth Animal Care & Control adoption center and making a new furr-ever friend.

Find a good luck charm.

Might we suggest stopping by Enchanted Forest Metaphysical Shoppe or Earthly Relics to peruse the collection of pendants and crystals?

Would you wear Crocs cowboy boots?

Well, that’s a pretty clear pass — earlier this week, we asked our readers if y’all would wear Crocs’ new cowboy boots.

While one daring dresser is game, 71% of respondents wouldn’t wear the boots in their lives, and 22% think they could be styled with the right outfit.
