With one more day until the Dallas Stars regular season home opener, we are picking out our green and black outfits, taste-testing our hot wings, and practicing our trash-talking so we can cheer on the Stars all season long. Keep reading for a quick season preview.
Season schedule
The Stars ranked No. 7 in ESPN’s NHL preseason Power Rankings after finishing second in the Central Division back in May. The Dallas team is 4-3 after the preseason games.
We’ll see where the team trends after the home opener against the St. Louis Blues tomorrow at 7 p.m. at American Airlines Center.
Head coach Pete DeBoer will lead the team for his second season alongside assistant coach Steve Spott. Check out tomorrow’s starting line up.
Last season, goalie Jake Oettinger (#29) stopped 92% of shots on goal. Left wing Jason Roberston (#21) made 109 goals, tying for No. 6 in the NHL. Center Wyatt Johnston (#53) is taking on his third professional season ahead of his 21st birthday.
You can leave your binoculars at home — you should be able to see all of the players very well with the new 44-ft-long video board.
Things to remember
American Airlines Center allows bags smaller than 14 x 14 X 6 inches. Don’t forget that the arena is cash-free. Check the full list of policies before you head to the game + pre-plan your parking.

Cook Children’s opens a new pediatric sports medicine complex in Walsh Ranch

Located at 13340 Highland Hills Dr., the outdoor complex includes:
A 30-yard football field
A quarter-mile track
A pitching mound
An agility training area
The specialized facility will help young athletes train and rehab injuries so they can get back in the game. The small sports spaces allow athletes to rehab in the same environment in which they usually play to simulate the real stresses to players’ bodies — rather than rehabilitating an injury on a treadmill in air-conditioning.
Working in tandem with the training gym at the current facility, the new complex will be a one-stop-shop for young athletes. It will also host adaptive training for kids and teens with different abilities, sports camps, and home-school physical education programs.

Hometown hero and Rangers pitcher Cody Bradford was interviewed on FOX4 earlier this week. The left-handed pitcher grew up in Aledo — about 30 minutes west of town — graduated valedictorian, and played at Baylor University before being drafted to the Texas Rangers.
Fun fact: Cody and I grew up in the same neighborhood and used to ride the school bus together. That makes me famous by association, right?
