The John and Tracy Sellers Sports Complex allows youth athletes to rehab injuries in their usual sports environment.

Youth athletes, step this way — Cook Children’s is cutting the ribbon on a new sports training complex in Aledo. The John and Tracy Sellers Sports Complex opens tomorrow as an expansion of the hospital’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Walsh Ranch facility.

Located at 13340 Highland Hills Dr., the outdoor complex includes:

  • A 30-yard football field
  • A quarter-mile track
  • A pitching mound
  • An agility training area

The specialized facility will help young athletes train and rehab injuries so they can get back in the game. The small sports spaces allow athletes to rehab in the same environment in which they usually play to simulate the real stresses to players’ bodies — rather than rehabilitating an injury on a treadmill in air-conditioning.

Working in tandem with the training gym at the current facility, the new complex will be a one-stop-shop for young athletes. It will also host adaptive training for kids and teens with different abilities, sports camps, and home-school physical education programs.
