💿 DJ Diesel on the track
In case you’ve missed out on the 51-year-old’s rise to EDM — electronic dance music — fame, here’s some background on how he became known as DJ Diesel.
Shaq took the stage for the first time as Diesel during the 2015 TomorrowWorld festival in Belgium and never looked back.
In 2018, the 7-ft-1-inch basketball legend was given the opportunity to DJ at Ohio’s Lost Lands Festival and later staged his inaugural Fun House festival around major entertainment and sports events.
The dubstep dad has a busy summer ahead leading up to the Cowtown festival with his “Summer of SHAQ” tour with performances at Chicago’s Lollapalooza, Los Angeles’ HARD Summer, and Belgium’s Tomorrowland.

Brace yourselves, Cowtown — theTexas heat is in full swing.
Just before the first day of summer, ERCOT — the organization that operates the state’s electrical grid — issued a voluntary conservation notice as anticipated demand came perilously close to the grid’s power capacity.
To help you through the next, oh, five months or so, here are seven tips for saving energy during the summer.
Free: Turn up the thermostat while you’re away
The Department of Energy estimates setting your thermostat 7-10 degrees hotter when you leave the house can save as much as 10% of your energy bill per year. Note: If you have pets, make sure you’re still keeping temperatures in asafe range.
Free: Close your blinds
Close blinds in the rooms you’re not using to prevent sunshine from warming the temperature inside your home.
Free: Unplug
Unplugging electronics such as computers, chargers, and televisions after use can save as much as $200 per year in energy bills.
I cannot wait to check out the zoo’s newest habitat. I’ll be there this morning getting y’all an inside look at the Predators of Asia & Africa exhibit. Be sure to look out for that in a future newsletter and on Instagram.
