🏈 TCU Football (NCAA) | Est. 1896
TCU Football joined the Big 12 Conference in 2012 and was previously part of the Mountain West Conference. Earlier this year, head coach Sonny Dykes gave the university national fame by leading the team to their first College Football Playoff berth.
The highest ever recorded attendance at Amon G. Carter was 50,307, which occurred in 2009 against The University of Utah.
Major accomplishments:
There have been six Heisman finalists, including quarterback Max Duggan in 2022.
The team made history during the 2022-2023 season as Texas’ first team to attend the College Football Playoff (CFP) and earn an invite to the National Championship.

The Texas Rattlers are Fort Worth’s first-ever professional bull riding team owned by the Fisher Family. The team is sponsored by Ariat footwear company and is part of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Team Series League.

The King of Country is coming to Dickies Arena for two nights of performances this fall. George Strait will be joined by musician Caitlyn Smith on Friday, Nov. 17 + Saturday, Nov. 18. Presale tickets will be available starting Thursday, April 13 at 10 a.m. with code “DICKIES.”

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden extended the “World of Orchids” exhibition through Sunday, April 16 due to high demand. The exhibit features thousands of orchids in different shapes, sizes, and colors in the Rainforest Conservatory. Grab your tickets.

Tommy’s Hamburgers was crowned “Best Burger” at the Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival. The restaurant won for its “Thai Tommy” burger made with a half-pound of Nolan Ryan beef, Gouda, and house-made Thai chili sauce. Stop by its Burgers + Brews location at 1736 Mall Circle to try the winning dish.
Closing
The Texas Civil War Museum in White Settlement is closing at the end of the year. The museum opened in 2006 and is the largest Civil War museum west of the Mississippi River with three separate galleries. It will close for good on Saturday, Dec. 30. Explore the available items.

Environment
Twelve new street sweepers will help keep litter, dirt, and debris off the streets and out of our waterways. The city approved the purchase of the new equipment last month for $3.75 million. They’re expected to hit the roads by the end of the year.

Grab your lawn chairs and mosquito spray — Friday on the Green returns to the Near Southside this Friday, April 14.
Head to Magnolia Green — located on Lipscomb Street between Magnolia Avenue and West Rosedale Street — for live music, vendors, and family fun.
The free, dog-friendly event will be held on the second Friday of the month from 5 to 10 p.m., with dates tentatively set for May 12, June 9, Sept. 8, and Oct. 13.
