A 6-story tall rubber duck is coming to Fort Worth. Its mission? To promote kindness.
The Kindness Duck Project is a nonprofit that aims to help people plant show compassion. Its goals are to help with community needs, promote and uplift organizations + provide people of all ages opportunities to receive and give kindness.
Background
The idea was started by Mark Burrow, a children’s ministries director. He began a series of Kindness Conversations last spring with the First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. Mark gave the children small rubber ducks to encourage them to do nice things for others. The idea was so well-received, he created the Kindness Duck Project to motivate other children and the wider community.
The big event
To help encourage others to do acts of goodwill, the Kindness Duck Party is coming to Trinity Park on Sat., Oct. 30. It was initially scheduled for July but was pushed back because of COVID-19 concerns.
Guests can spend the day spreading warmth and supporting local businesses. The event will include:
- More than 25 local food trucks 🌮
- Roughly 100 vendors 🛍️
- Games and activities provided by the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. 🧩
- 30 charity booths, including Saving Hope Rescue, A Memory Grows + Con Mi MADRE. 💌
The group is also finding ways to collaborate with the Fort Worth ISD. District representatives will be on-site to help parents and guardians register students for pre-K and Kindergarten.
The event will be everything it’s quacked up to be. Entry is free and runs from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
