Earlier this week, leaders from Tarleton State University’s Fort Worth campus celebrated the grand opening of its new Interprofessional Education (IPE) building. The $66 million facility aims to increase access to healthcare and education along Chisholm Trail Parkway in southwest Fort Worth.

The state-of-the-art building designed by Perkins&Will includes:

  • 100,000 sqft of classroom and lab space
  • High-fidelity simulation and clinical skills suites
  • 250-person multi-purpose space for community events and training

The new IPE building will allow the university to increase offerings in nursing, nutritional science, communication sciences and disorders, kinesiology, psychology, teacher education, and medical laboratory sciences.

Each of these programs work to educate new healthcare providers, with a goal of decreasing the 391 designated Health Professional Shortage Areas in Texas — of which Tarrant County has 10 and Parker County has two.

Other new and upcoming higher education facilities in Fort Worth include TCU’s recently opened Burnett School of Medicine and the UTA West expansion slated to open in Walsh Ranch in 2028.
