Trade in your bumper-to-bumper commute for a comfy ride on TEXrail.

Trinity Metro hit a major milestone last month. TEXRail has officially given two million rides — and some lucky riders received free t-shirts.

The 27-mile commuter rail line opened in 2019, offering service and nine stops between Fort Worth and DFW Airport.

In 2020, Trinity Metro launched a plan to extend the line 2.1 miles from the T&P Station to the Near Southside. The estimated $167 million-project is currently in the design phase. It is expected to start construction early next year and open in the spring of 2026.

While gas prices might not be as high as they were last summer — currently averaging $3.23 per gallon, compared to $4.70 in June 2022 — no one really wants to shell out their money at the pump. Check out our guide to getting around without gas for commuting options that are good for your wallet and the environment.
