The (nationally ranked) doctor will see you now. Cowtown has one of the nation’s best resources for pediatric medicine: Cook Children’s Health Care System.

Dating back to a 30-bed facility in 1918, Cook Children’s is now one of the largest pediatric health care systems in the southwest, treating over two million patients annually with nearly 10,000 staff members across 60 pediatric medical offices and specialty clinics.

Check the charts

The healthcare system tops the charts in both patient care and employee satisfaction. According to recent data from the U.S. News & World Report, Cook Children’s Fort Worth Medical Center is nationally ranked in five pediatric specialties including:

  • Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • Children’s Wellness
  • Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Services
  • Onsite Pediatric Emergency Department

In addition to medical care, the hospital ranked No. 3 on Forbes’ list of Best Large Employers in the country across all industries, as well as No. 1 in the healthcare industry. Recently, Cook Children’s was also included on Newsweek’s 2024 list of America’s Greatest Workplaces, earning 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Milestones

Like its patients, the healthcare system continues to grow, opening new branches and specialties across North Texas. Some recent openings include:

  • A Female Athlete program opened in Hurst earlier this month + caters to the nutrition, mental heath care, and injury prevention for youth athletes.
  • In October, Cook Children’s cut the ribbon on a new pediatric sports medicine complex and training facility in Walsh Ranch.
  • At the beginning of 2023, the hospital celebrated the opening of its Prosper Medical Center, bringing high-quality healthcare to north Dallas.

Still to come is the 40,000-sqft Las Vegas Trail Neighborhood Health Center, which is slated to open in late 2025.
