On Sun., Sept. 11, City Center Fort Worth will host a Memorial Tower Climb, during which 200 first responders will climb the 27 flights of the Bank of America Tower (301 Commerce St.) four times.

First responders from the City Center Security, local police and fire departments, county sheriff’s offices, and FBI agents will emulate the 110-story climb to the top of the New York World Trade Center, each wearing a lanyard with a photo and name of a 9/11 first responder.

The memorial will begin at 8:25 a.m. with opening remarks from City Center representatives and Mayor Mattie Parker, before a bugler plays “Taps” at 8:43 a.m. The almost three-hour climb will be marked by six moments of silence that commemorate the key times during which the planes crashed and the towers collapsed.

Certified law enforcement and first responders are invited to participate.
