There’s a new place to explore Cowtown’s rich history. The Fort Worth History Center will open inside the old Seminary South Library (501 E. Berry Bolt St.) tomorrow, Sat., Oct. 22 at 10 a.m.
The history center will contain the Fort Worth Public Library’s Genealogy, Local History, and Archives (GLHA ) division which was founded in 1949 + housed inside the Central Library (500 W. 3rd St.). The move comes as the city prepares to sell the downtown library branch to create a space that better fits the community’s needs.
The Seminary South Library branch became vacant earlier this year when La Gran Biblioteca opened inside La Gran Plaza de Fort Worth. The archive division is multi-dimensional — preserving Fort Worth’s historical material + the city’s municipal archives and providing genealogy resources to the community.
The Fort Worth History Center will be open Tuesday-Thursday 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday + Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
