Welcome to Cowtown, MLB. All-Star Weekend is here. This is the first time the metroplex has hosted the mid-summer event since 1995, and Fort Worth is rolling out the (astroturf?) carpet for baseball fans. Here’s a look at what’s going on. Pro tip: Browse our Events page, as several local bars and restaurants have baseball-themed offerings.

Friday, July 12

  • The Budwesier Clydesdales will be trotting down East Exchange Avenue from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and doing a beer drop at Billy Bob’s Texas along the way. The majestic horses are available for photos at Cowtown Coliseum after 1:30 p.m.
  • The HBCU Swingman Classic is at 7 p.m. at Globe Life Field. Tickets ($15-25) are available to see 50 baseball players from historically Black colleges and universities swing away.

Saturday, July 13

  • The Capital One All-Star Village will be open at Choctaw Stadium from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. It runs through Tuesday, July 16. Tickets are $35 ($30 for children), with family four-packs available for $110. Snag your chance to meet former Rangers Adrian Beltre, Rafel Palmeiro, Michael Young, and Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez at the event.
