Welcome to Cowtown, MLB. All-Star Weekend is here. This is the first time the metroplex has hosted the mid-summer event since 1995, and Fort Worth is rolling out the (astroturf?) carpet for baseball fans. Here’s a look at what’s going on. Pro tip: Browse our Events page, as several local bars and restaurants have baseball-themed offerings.
Friday, July 12
- The Budwesier Clydesdales will be trotting down East Exchange Avenue from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and doing a beer drop at Billy Bob’s Texas along the way. The majestic horses are available for photos at Cowtown Coliseum after 1:30 p.m.
- The HBCU Swingman Classic is at 7 p.m. at Globe Life Field. Tickets ($15-25) are available to see 50 baseball players from historically Black colleges and universities swing away.
Saturday, July 13
- The Capital One All-Star Village will be open at Choctaw Stadium from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. It runs through Tuesday, July 16. Tickets are $35 ($30 for children), with family four-packs available for $110. Snag your chance to meet former Rangers Adrian Beltre, Rafel Palmeiro, Michael Young, and Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez at the event.
Sunday, July 14
- All-Star Sunday in the Stockyards is a free event that runs from 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. along East Exchange Avenue and features live music, former MLB players, celebrity meet + greets, and a drone show.
- The MLB Amateur Draft begins at 6 p.m. in Cowtown Coliseum. All available public seating will be general admission in the lower bowl, although prices have not yet been announced.
Monday, July 15
- The Home Run Derby is at 7 p.m. at Globe Life Field. Tickets are selling fast, and run about $136+ per seat right now.
- Can’t make it to the ballpark? Attend a free watch party with live music along East Exchange Avenue, 7-10 p.m.
