How Fort Worth-area Olympians performed in the Paris 2024 Olympics

The Paris 2024 Olympics ran from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, Aug. 11.

Erin McPherson, 6AM City

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, approximately 10,500 athletes from around the world competed across 32 sports. Among all the hard-working competitors, wee’ve been cheering for six Olympians with ties to Fort Worth. Keep reading to see how they did.

Conner Prince, Shooting
Prince hails from Burleson, TX (~25 minutes south of Fort Worth) and is part of the US Shotgun Team. Paris 2024 was his first Olympics and he competed in skeet shooting.
Result: Silver

Hailey Van Lith, 3x3 Women’s Basketball
Van Lith recently transferring to Texas Christian University. She earned her spot on Team USA’s small but mighty 3x3 Basketball team.
Result: Bronze

Chiaka Ogbogu, Volleyball
This 6-ft-2 volleyball standout is from Coppell, TX (~30 miles from Fort Worth) and is a University of Texas alumna.
Result: Faces Brazil in the semifinals on Aug. 8.

Sam Watson, Sport Climbing
Hailed as “the fastest climber in the world,” the 18-year-old athlete is from Southlake, TX (~30 miles from FTW) and has been climbing since age 5. He set a not one, but two new world records with a climb time of 4.74 seconds in the finals. After losing to silver medalist Wu Peng in the semifinals, Watson finished thrid.
Result: Bronze

Joseph Brown, Men’s Discus
A graduate of Mansfield High School and Texas A&M University-Commerce, the 28-year-old placed third in the 2023 U.S Olympic Team Trials for discus.
Result: 10th place

Lindon Victor, Decathlon
The 30-year-old athlete competes for Grenada but trains and lives in Fort Worth. He previously competed in the Rio 206 Olympics.
Result: Bronze
