The Federal Emergency Management Agency has granted Dallas $51 million to boost security measures during the World Cup. The agency granted a total of $625 million to the 11 US cities hosting the matches. Examples of how the money can be used include training exercises, increasing police presence + staffing additional first responders.

UNT is closing several low-enrollment programs starting this fall to help meet a $45 million budget gap. Programs include two undergraduate majors (Linguistics + Latino and Latin American Studies), four master’s programs, 25 minors, and 40 certificates. Inc. Magazine’s 2026 Female Founders 500 list is out, and several business owners around DFW made the cut. The list highlights women leading companies and nonprofits across the US, including nuuds founder and Dallas-dwelling influencer Daryl Ann Denner.
Legacy
Local reporter Jason Whitely shared a tribute to Chuck Norris, who died last week at the age of 86. Norris starred in the 1990s hit TV series “Walker, Texas Ranger” — which was set and filmed in DFW. In 2019, he visited Fort Worth again for a martial arts fundraiser. (Fort Worth Magazine)
