What is this... summer?

Did you know — the coldest temperature ever recorded in North Texas was -8° on Feb. 12, 1899?

The second-coldest temperature recorded wasn’t too long ago. Just back in February 2021, thermometers read -2°. Severe cold stretched across the state, and all 254 Texas counties were under a winter storm warning. DFW spent nearly six days below freezing and record energy consumption.

This year is quite different, with cold fronts simply taunting us. We know the question on your mind, Fort Worthians — will it stay cold this time?

Thanks to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center, we know which winter weather trends to expect in our city for January, February, and March.

🌨️ Precipitation

Winter precipitation under La Niña predicts Fort Worth has equal chances of having above or below average weather conditions through March 2026.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Elizabeth Hastings

This week, I was one of the first guests to experience The Devil’s Den — a brand-new private dining and chef’s room inside Star Cafe. Cafe Modern’s Executive Chef Jett Mora teamed up with Star Cafe Head Chef Victor Villarreal and Shiner Spirits to present an exclusive six-course dinner and cocktail party.

Listen to this menu and tell me you’re not intrigued:
  • Whipped goat cheese with fried pecans, greens + a honey crisp apple vinaigrette
  • Texas quail on top of smoked pumpkin risotto + pecorino
  • Smoked rib cap steak, garlic honey polenta + acorn squash
  • Squash gratin + poached fish, with a beet beurre blanc sauce
A spokesperson says The Devil’s Den plans to have these types of parties regularly in the new year. Follow them on Instagram to stay in the loop.
