Did you know — the coldest temperature ever recorded in North Texas was -8° on Feb. 12, 1899?
The second-coldest temperature recorded wasn’t too long ago. Just back in February 2021, thermometers read -2°. Severe cold stretched across the state, and all 254 Texas counties were under a winter storm warning. DFW spent nearly six days below freezing and record energy consumption.
This year is quite different, with cold fronts simply taunting us. We know the question on your mind, Fort Worthians — will it stay cold this time?
Thanks to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center, we know which winter weather trends to expect in our city for January, February, and March.
