From everything to cinnamon sugar crunch, bagels are officially the city’s hottest trend — and last weekend’s opening of Dan’s Bagels proved it. Here’s your guide to the best bagel spots around Fort Worth.

Branded Bagels, 1242 FM 407, Northlake
Recently opened in the Northlake Commons shopping center, Branded Bagels is serving up ~16 bagel flavors — psst, they usually have a seasonal twist up their sleeves.

Dan’s Bagels, multiple locations
Still in its soft opening phase, the viral spot near TCU on Forest Park Boulevard serves favorites like jalapeno cheddar and cinnamon sugar crunch bagels (go ahead, drool over the photo above).

The Sour Boule, 3801 Southwest Blvd.
Where sourdough meets soul — this cozy, community-rooted bakery serves handcrafted sourdough breads, pastries, sandwiches, and coffee; don’t skip the customizable Sourdough Bagel Sandwich.

News Notes

Development

Fort Worth will break ground in early 2026 on Westside Village, a $1.7 billion, 15-year development at North University Drive and White Settlement Road (soon to be renamed Westside Drive). Phase I includes a six-story office building with retail and restaurants, plus a 308-unit apartment building. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)

Coming Soon

Maria’s Mexican Kitchen, the Fort Worth restaurant founded by chef Felipe Armenta, is expanding with a new Irving location at 5240 N. O’Connor Blvd., taking over Hugo’s Invitados’ former space. The Las Colinas spot, expected to open this December, will be the third Maria’s, joining Fort Worth and Odessa locations. (CultureMap Fort Worth)

Seasonal

Don’t forget to set your clocks back — daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, ushering in brighter mornings and earlier sunsets. Need help adjusting to the change? Enjoying a sun-soaked morning at a local coffee shop should do the trick.

Post of the Day

If you don’t have Halloween night plans, head to Denton. | Post by @texasmonthly
Happy Halloween — especially to folks in Denton. Did you know Denton is officially the Halloween Capital of Texas? The title, granted by the Texas Legislature in 2025 for 10 years, honors the city’s month-long 31 Days of Denton Halloween celebration.

Every October, downtown bursts to life with haunted mazes, coffin races, costume contests, art installations, and themed markets — don’t miss the final day for all the Halloween fun. The 2024 inaugural celebration drew 660,000 visitors, and today marks the end of another incredible year of Denton Halloween magic. Catch the full tale told by Texas Monthly.

The Wrap

Good morning, Fort Worth. My sister had two healthy twin baby boys yesterday — which, obviously, made me curious about twin stats (it’s our first set in the family).

Here are a few fun ones I found:
  • About 1 in every 33 babies born in the US is a twin.
  • Texas sees around 11,000 twin births each year — talk about double trouble.
  • UT Austin even runs a Texas Twin Project studying what makes twins tick.
  • The local nonprofit Fort Worth Mothers of Multiples has 132 sets of twins among its members — proof that this city already has a strong “twins club.”
