The first boutique-style hotel in Southlake is officially open. The Elmore Hotel has undergone a multimillion-dollar renovation to house 175 rooms, a fine-dining restaurant, and a speakeasy, located just six miles from DFW Airport, on East State Highway 114. The Dallas Wings are getting a brand-new, $48.6 million practice facility, set to open next fall. It’ll contain a locker room, dining area, and two practice courts. Construction will break ground on Friday at the Joey Georgusis Park in Oak Cliff, Dallas. (NBC 5 DFW)

During the historic, final Iron Skillet matchup between TCU and SMU last weekend, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson agreed to donate to FTW’s Good Natured green space initiative. Although the dollar amount was not specified, the donation will go towards open space conservation efforts. (Fort Worth Report)

Denton’s Texas Woman’s University just got one degree hotter. Not literally — but the college has added Musical Theatre to its offerings, making it the only one within 100 miles.
