The Instagram account @cheapoldhouses is taking the internet by storm with 2.9 million followers and features on HGTV, Buzzfeed, and The New York Times. According to Zillow, the demand for inexpensive, older homes is trending as millennials are snatching them up to bring them back to life.
We scraped @cheapoldhouses’ feed so you don’t have to, and unfortunately, there were no listings in or around the Fort Worth area. So we’re taking matters into our own hands. Here’s a list of five homes we’d nominate for a listing on Cheap Old Houses.

Arlington’s National Medal of Honor Museum has opened a new cafe inside called 1861 Cafe — named for the year President Lincoln established the Medal of Honor. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Yesterday, the museum also announced its fall events, including its Star Spangled Soiree. (Fort Worth Report)

Fort Worth ISD chief financial officer (CFO) Carmen Arrieta-Candelaria resigned this week to accept a position in her hometown in El Paso County. The district hasn’t announced the interim CFO yet, but the search is underway. (WFAA)

JPS Health Network has unveiled its new 68,000-sqft facility devoted to psychiatric treatment. JPS Psychiatric Emergency Center opens next Wednesday, and all psychiatric emergency services will move from the main campus to this free-standing building. The new facility has space for up to 90 patients. (Fort Worth Report)
State
This week, Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order officially limiting THC products to adults 21 and older, effective immediately. Earlier this month, the state outlawed THC vapes, but snacks, gummies, and drinks are fine — as long as they adhere to testing and packaging restrictions. (The Dallas Morning News)

Yesterday, TCU launched a brand-new program with Ridglea Senior Living to reshape dementia support for elder adults. Five students from Dr. Michelle Kimzey’s Dementia in the Community course will visit the senior living center weekly to provide specialized care and gain hands-on knowledge of a condition that affects so many communities.
Through the Ridglea Dementia Program, Dr. Kimzey and TCU is spreading dementia awareness, combating stigma, and promoting inclusivity for every resident the senior living center.
