⭐️ Fort Worth ISD gets graded

In 2017, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) established its Accountability System to provide a picture of how schools are performing. Last week, it released its 2025 school accountability ratings, as well as its delayed 2024 ratings. It reviewed 1,208 districts and 9,084 school campuses across the state.

Although STAAR scores showed signs of improvement this year, Fort Worth ISD earned the lowest accountability rating among Dallas, Frisco, and Arlington ISDs, earning a C grade with a score of 73. However, this year was the second year in a row to see a boost.

Earlier this month, the district announced its plan to extend instruction in math and reading for 15 under-performing campuses, but it may not be enough to avoid TEA’s potential takeover. That decision will come later this fall if Education Commissioner Mike Morath sees that the ISD needs state intervention.

All campus ratings are available online, with the option to filter by grade level, district, rating, school type, and more.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Elizabeth Hastings

Welcome back students. Yesterday was the first day of class for 13,000+ TCU students, including ~2,700 freshmen — making it the largest incoming class in university history. I attended the Welcome Back event to catch some of the excitement, and boy — did it feel good/weird to walk across a college campus again. I could totally pass as a student, no?
