As part of the effort to improve education in the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD), our school board recently approved a longer school year for 15 campuses. These campuses are called Additional Day School Year schools, or ADSY.
Each ADSY campus will add 25 four-hour summer enrichment days to its calendar, after regular, non-ADSY schools have already released for summer break on May 21, 2026.
Did your kids’ school make the list? Find out.
Funding for these extra school days will be provided by House Bill 3 if campuses meet specific requirements. Buses will continue to run, plus breakfast and lunch will still be provided to students. FWISD teachers are not required to work these extra school days, but voluntary participation will result in additional compensation.
