More than 800 residents at the Cooper Apartments on Rosedale Avenue have been displaced due to a 6-alarm fire that happened earlier this week. Learn how to help by visiting Near Southside’s Instagram page, or donate to the Cooper Fire Relief Fund. All proceeds will go towards the residents.

This week, Mayor Mattie Parker declared Thursday, July 3 International Meacham Airport Day to commemorate 100 years of service. In 1925, Fort Worth purchased the airport from the US Army + renamed it in honor of former Mayor Henry Meacham. Do you know the airport features a Vintage Flying Museum?

Meet TCU’s newest Chief of Staff to Chancellor Pullin. Jeremy Vickers will assume his new role on Tuesday, July 15. The chief of staff is responsible for overseeing operations, facilitating communications, managing stakeholder relationships, and serving as secretary of the board. (Fort Worth Magazine)

The steakburger and frozen custard fast-food chain Freddy’s is headed to southeast Fort Worth late next month. Known for its smashburgers, milkshakes + chicken sandwiches, the upcoming food joint will be on Summer Creek Drive. They’re looking for ~50 team members to join the crew. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)

A bill was signed into law that bans the use of cellphones at Texas schools. House Bill 1481 requires all public and charter schools to prohibit the use of personal devices during school hours. Starting Monday, Sept. 1, schools will have 90 days to adopt the new policy. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
