⭐️ Fort Worth is one of the best

We always think Fort Worth is the best, so when U.S. News and World Report ranked Cowtown No. 212 on its “Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2025-2026" list, we were scratching our heads.

Let’s put this into perspective: The study ranked 850+ cities, meaning Fort Worth is in the top 25%. It also measured many factors, so to better understand the placement, we looked at the areas where Fort Worth excelled, and where there’s room for improvement.

Fort Worth’s high marks

One of Fort Worth’s best metrics was its cost of living. The city’s median housing cost was $297,803 — which is $70,000+ below the national average. Rent is also below the national average, with the median monthly rent being $1,199.

Fort Worth’s job market is also slightly better than average, with an unemployment rate that’s 0.01% lower than the rest of the nation.

The Fort Worth Zoo welcomed an adorable, but prickly, new addition. A prehensile-tailed porcupine was born to parents Piper and Quilliam on Saturday, May 17.

The porcupette was born with soft, red hair. These strands begin hardening after birth and the zoo estimates the quills will be fully developed in a few weeks.

A DNA test is needed to determine if the unnamed baby is male or female, but the zoo teased a gender reveal in the coming weeks.
