Attention music lovers and party-goers. It’s almost time for the inaugural Jambaloo.

What’s Jambaloo, you ask? Jambaloo is a free (that’s right — free) North Texas music festival running Saturday, Feb. 1 through Saturday, Feb. 8 across four music venues. It’s more than just a concert series — it’s a way to unite the music community, support small businesses + uplift local artists. Cowtown’s very own Tulips is one of the participating venues.

Symposium

Jambaloo starts with a symposium on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Tulips. The discussion will feature a panel of Grammy Award winners, such as Bobby Sessions and Tre Negalla, to discuss DFW’s rich current and future music scene.

Line up

Jambaloo will showcase 100+ local artists from a variety of genres over a week-long span. Check the full list of performances and their showtimes so you never miss a beat. Country band Kolton Moore & The Clever Few and indie-alternative singer MJ Lenderman are among the performers.

Environment

These prescribed burns are an environmental management tool that is helpful for several reasons including supporting a healthy ecosystem, replenishing nutrients in the soil, and reducing the threat of an uncontrolled wildfire. This was the area’s first prescribed burn.

Cowboys get their guy

Dallas Cowboy’s offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer is taking the head coaching position with the team, according to WFAA.

Leading up to Mike McCarthy’s contract expiration on January 14, “America’s Team” chose not to bring him back for the 2025 season. In the five years that McCarthy led the Cowboys, he garnered a 49-35 regular season and 1-3 playoff record. He is now reportedly interviewing for the head coaching position with the Chicago Bears.

Don the headset

Owner Jerry Jones didn’t have to look far for the new head coach, selecting current offensive coordinator Schottenheimer, who has been with the franchise since 2022. With 20+ years of NFL experience and three with the Cowboys, Schottenheimer helped jumpstart the team’s offense in 2023 when they finished with 29.9 points per game — the highest-scoring offense in the league — and 371.6 yards per game. We know Schottenheimer accepted a four-year contract, but other details have not been released.

Armchair experts

Our readers might be top-notch Cowboys fans, but they could use some recruiting work. No one guessed Schottenheimer would be hired, but 57% backed Deion Sanders.

The Wrap

One of my favorite music genres is electronic. This weekend I visited Silo — one of Dallas’s newest music venues — to see electronic trio Levity perform on a sold-out 360 stage. I’m looking forward to returning because their lineup is straight-fire.🔥 My fellow EDM fans would enjoy NGHTMRE, Loud Luxury, and Of The Trees.
