Earlier this year, we polled our readers for their zaniest predictions for 2024. Here are some of your responses... and how they panned out:

Prediction: “The Highway 820/121 construction will be finished.” — Barry R.
Outcome: Nope. The 820 construction continues.

Prediction: “Dallas Stars win the Stanley Cup.” — Scott H.
Outcome: Unfortunately, the Florida Panthers won the Stanley Cup this year. But you never know what 2025 holds — keep tabs on the Dallas Stars.

We had high hopes for Fort Worth this year.

Prediction: “Taylor Sheridan will buy more restaurants and property in the Stockyards.” — Julia K.
Outcome: Julia totally called it. The creator of “Yellowstone” partnered with the owners of Cattlemen’s Steak House to renovate the restaurant. There were also rumors that he’d buy Joe T. Garcia’s.

Prediction: “Cowtown will get a second Trader Joe’s location.” — Rebecca M.
Outcome: Sorry, TJ’s fans. The location on South Hulen Street remains the one and only Fort Worth Trader Joe’s.

One prediction we can’t account for? Whether or not your bestie subscribed to FTWtoday.

What do you predict will happen in Fort Worth in 2025?

Will we have the hottest summer on record? Will Jerry World put up curtains? Will we finally get a second Trader Joe’s?

FTW-light-crust-doughboys
I had the honor of seeing the Light Crust Doughboys perform at the Southside Preservation Hall on Saturday night, and trust me, it’s worth witnessing.

The longest continuously performing country band teamed up with Fort Worth banjo picker Simon Flory for an evening of western swing classics and holiday carols.

Catch the next performance on Thursday, Dec. 19 at Dallas’ Perkins Chapel during the SMU Western Christmas Revue!
