Saluting Cowtown

Fort Worth was listed among the best cities in the US for military families in 2024 thanks to its employment, economic, quality of life, and health rankings.

In honor of Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11, the local community and businesses are coming together to celebrate our veterans and military families.

This year, the annual free Tarrant County Veterans Day Parade is themed “Saluting Cowtown” and honors the 175-year military legacy that Fort Worth has, from frontier soldiers to today’s heroes.

The parade route will begin at the Panther Island Pavilion parking lot at 11 a.m. and travel along Forest Park Boulevard and the Clear Fork of the Trinity River before it returns to the starting point.

Still want to get involved? Learn more about participating, volunteering, and donating to the 105th anniversary of Armistice Day in Fort Worth.

To all of our veteran and active duty military readers, thank you for your service.

Did you know? The first performance of “The Nutcracker” was held in 1892.

Today, the classic ballet has become an integral part of holiday traditions worldwide — and Texas Ballet Theater is bringing it to our very own backyard this season.

Fort Worthians can catch a two-hour performance, set to a classical score by Tchaikovsky, from Friday, Dec. 13 through Sunday, Dec. 29 at Bass Performance Hall (and don’t miss ugly sweater nights).
