While we wait for temperatures to wind down, we’re sharing spots to try another indoor activity: roller skating.

(If you haven’t already, check out our indoor activity pieces on Whirlyball + axe throwing.)

Arlington Skatium | At 30,000 sqft, Texas’ largest roller rink is located a ~25-minute drive from downtown Fort Worth. Skaters can bring their own rollerblades or choose to rent a pair at the rink — you’ll have to pay a flat admission fee either way. When you get tired of gliding, grab some food from the snack bar or play a few games at the arcade.

Forum Roller World | This family-owned Grand Prairie roller rink offers solid maple wood flooring for an ideal skating experience. Newbie? All ages and levels can take part in skating lessons every Saturday, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

RollerLand West | Stop by RollerLand West on Wednesday evenings for a $6.50 skate special that includes traditional roller skate rentals. Rollerblades and trainers are also available.

RollerWorld NorthEast | Looking for a fun weeknight activity? Gather a few friends to check out RollerWorld’s adult skate nights on Thursdays from 8 to 11 p.m.

Silver Wheel Skating | Located in White Settlement, Silver Wheel has been around since 1952. Enjoy half price skate day on Wednesdays or a BYOB night (ages 18+) on Thursdays from 7 to 10:30 p.m.

Bonus: Check out the DFW Inline Skate Group and DFW Skate Group for group skates and meetups.

    Asked

Where do you go for a quiet meal or drink?

One reader recently asked where in Fort Worth they could dine quietly to maintain good conversation, and we’re curious, too.

Which spots around Fort Worth keep the music volume to a minimum, the TVs muted, and the tables just far enough apart so that you can’t hear a neighbor’s chat?

For instance, Senior City Editor Kate recommends stopping by Maiden for a delicious plant-based meal in a cozy, quiet booth.

These are the categories we’re interested in:
    • Food | Calm, intimate spots for conversation
    • Drink | Cafes, dive bars, or speakeasies that keep the buzz low
    • Out of the box spots | Parks for picnicking, tucked away corners for lunching, etc.
Help us expand our dining horizons, and we’ll share some of the answers in a future newsletter.
