It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a flight

Summer is the perfect time to catch a flight — and if you’re anything like us, that doesn’t mean racking up airline miles.

It means stopping in at one of these spots around town to grab a lineup of food + bev samplings. A good flight is about trying new flavors. The one thing they have in common? They’re all delicious.

Morgan’s Ice Cream Co., Multiple locations
If you’re the type of person to stand at the front of the line trying each of the 10+ flavors at Morgan’s before deciding what to buy, we don’t blame you. Make your life a little easier with a four-scoop flight of your choice.

Pro tip: You can eat tacos every day, not just Tuesday. | Photo by @elchingonfw

El Chingon, 2800 Bledsoe St., Ste. 100
The La Completa Taco Flight is only offered on Taco Tuesdays at El Chingon, 3 p.m. to close, but it’s worth the wait. Snag five tacos — carne asada, pollo asada, al pastor, carnitas, and Jorge’s Taco De Pescado — for under $10. Bonus: If you’re thirsty, you can pair it with a mini margarita flight.

The Pantry on Magnolia, 713 W. Magnolia Ave.
You don’t want to miss the bao, okonomiyaki, or Korean-style noodles at The Pantry — but you really don’t want to miss the specialty: a hand-folded dumpling flight with pork + shiitake, Japanese beef stew, Indian butter chicken, elote, loaded baked potato, black garlic mushroom, and al pastor.

Three bowls of soup with three slices of bread. One soup is chili-colored, one is cream-colored topped with shredded cheese and bacon, and the last is red topped with many green and white toppings.

The Sour Boule, 3701 Southwest Blvd.
Watch out on The Sour Boule’s socials to know when the bakery + market is offering its rotating soup flight. From broccoli cheddar, to tortellini, to Peruvian stew, you’re bound to find a new favorite.

Snooze, 2150 W. 7th St., Ste. 109
With locations across Texas, Snooze has had the time to perfect its pancake offerings. Start your morning with Pineapple Upside Down, Blueberry Danish, and Sweet Potato pancakes and you’ll be ready to take on the day. After a nap, of course.

Art

A roundabout masterpiece
A 20-foot-high sculpture of a tornado made of blue, up-and-right-facing arrows. It's set in a gravel lot inside of a roundabout.

Motorists navigating the Las Vegas Trail roundabout will have no trouble remembering which way to go around.

City officials dedicated a new sculpture titled “Right Turn Only” on June 1, depicting a swirl of arrows rising from the ground to mirror the flow of traffic.

The 20-foot-tall artwork is the result of artist Mark Reigelman’s research + conversations with community members, who expressed interest in a hopeful piece that acknowledged the area’s ties with aeronautical history.

According to Fort Worth Public Art, the resulting spiral “references the circular air patterns created by airplane wingtips.”

Take yourself on a scavenger hunt for other public art around town.

Try the dumpling flight at The Pantry — but don’t sleep on okonomiyaki. Served as a street food in Osaka and Hiroshima, they’re savory cabbage pancakes smothered in a sweet-and-smokey sauce. In other words, the perfect comfort food.
