Looking for something very fun for the whole family? The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History’s Very Eric Carle exhibit offers a play-and-learn, hands-on experience with the works of the author behind childhood favorites like “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.”
This exhibit brings the pages of Carle’s books to life, allowing Fort Worth families to follow the path of the “Very Hungry Caterpillar,” weave a web with the “Very Busy Spider,” or compose a nighttime symphony with the “Very Quiet Cricket.” Plus, create your very own artwork using Carle’s materials and techniques.
Explore Carle’s classic illustration style, using collage, die-cut pages, and hand-painted papers.

Development
The Panther Island Project could be stalled again for months due to delays in moving utility lines. To stay on schedule, the city must relocate 14 stormwater, sewer, and water lines by mid-2024, but crews are struggling to meet timeline and budget requirements. See what’s happened so far. Edu
High school students at Crowley ISD will be able to take a new class in Native American studies starting in the 2024-2025 academic year. The course — focusing on the history and contemporary cultures of American Indians and Native nations — will be offered alongside African American and Mexican American studies.
Real Estate
Last week, the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees approved the $12.8 million purchase of 171 acres in Denton County. Funded through the $2 billion bond, the land purchase will be the site of a future middle and high school.
Sports
The Aledo Bearcats raised the UIL record with the high school’s 12th football state championship last week. The 5A team beat (51-8) the Smithson Valley Rangers at AT&T Stadium on Friday night. Three other schools are tied for second place with nine state titles.
Arts
A familiar face is returning to the Amon Carter Museum of American Art next year. Starting January 22, Yale doctoral candidate Michaela Haffner will be the new assistant curator of paintings, sculptures, and works on paper. As a junior staffer at the museum, Haffner previously curated five exhibitions.

Fun fact: I graduated from Aledo High School. While I was a student, Aledo won its third, fourth, and fifth state football championships. Glad to see the team and coaches are keeping the winning tradition alive. Go Bearcats.
