Hidden Gem: Plan your next evening out at Bar Dryce

Looking for a new weeknight hangout? We’ve got you covered with this FTW hidden gem. Hotel Dryce is a great place to stop in for a drink whether you’re staying at the hotel or not.

The boutique Byers Avenue hotel was formerly the old dry ice factory. Now, it features a chic, cozy Lobby Bar outfitted with Western touches, striking photos by local artist Guillermo D. Tapia + a sunny patio.

We’d recommend ordering a Dryce Tea, a Coco Gordo, or tasting one of the dry cocktails like The Remix or Cardamom Fizz.

Hesitant to read in public? Silent Book Club is a “shame-free way to show up for yourself,” says bartender Victor Van Scoit.

Stop in on Tuesday evenings around 5-9 p.m. (ish) for Silent Book Club. No need to keep up with a schedule or specific pages, this come-as-you-are club lets you read whatever you want and chat with other book lovers — only if you’re feeling social, of course.

When we visited earlier this week, readers told us the club “felt very Fort Worth” with its Cowtown vibe, despite being a local chapter of a global community.

If you haven’t yet, scroll through the Instagram page to find your next read — it’s basically a Fort Worth Goodreads.

Bonus: Check in with the bartender and host Victor Van Scoit to stamp your personal library card. Ten stamps get you a free burger from Gusto’s, which is now located at Tulips in the Near Southside.
