This Old House: Mid-century modern houses for sale around Fort Worth

City Editor Kate, here. I am a sucker for the modernist designs of the mid-20th century. Give me all the clean lines, thin metal windows, and teak accents.

In case you’re less of an architecture aficionado and more of a nosy Zillow scroller — It’s ok, we all are — mid-century modern grew out of a desire to simplify the ornate elements of pre-World War architecture. Stemming from the Bauhaus movement, modernism includes many micro-styles, but mid-century was heavily influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright. Think: open floor plans, wood paneling, built-ins, and indoor-outdoor living.

Keep reading for 10 retro homes that will never go out of style. Note: These homes are on the market as of Friday, July 28.

From the editor
I love looking at contemporary homes almost as much as mid-century modern ones — which is why I can’t wait for Fort Worth Magazine’s 2023 Dream Street homes to be completed. Located in Colleyville’s Oak Alley, the three luxury homes — featuring Mediterranean, English, and Tuscan designs — will be completed and open for tours in October.
