Made in Fort Worth. Yep, that sure has a nice ring to it. From clothing and accessories to snacks and other fun finds, we’ve rounded up 19 things homegrown in Cowtown.
While some of these brands have branched out beyond our city, one thing’s for sure — there’s some major inspiration happening around these parts.
🥃 Drinks TX Whiskey
Firestone & Robertson Distilling Co. was the first craft bourbon and whiskey distillery in Fort Worth. The 112-acre Whiskey Ranch even puts its own unique touch on the bottle caps by sourcing leather pieces from boots and saddles.
Avoca Coffee Roasters
The specialty coffee roasters and retailer was founded in 2011 by Garold LaRue and Jimmy Story. With three locations in Fort Worth, customers can enjoy micro-roasted coffee beans made in-house and specialty coffees. Don’t miss out on the food items including cinnamon rolls, bagels, and breakfast tacos.
🥒 Food Best Maid Pickles
The Texas-born business has been making pickle lovers’ dreams come true since 1926. The brand has expanded beyond pickles with items like Bloody Mary mix, dill pickle juice, barbecue sauce, and mustard.

👢 Fashion Peters Brothers Hats
The family-owned store started as a shoeshine shop downtown in 1911 by Tom and Jim Peters. In 1993, the store moved to 909 Houston St. and became a full-time hat shop, specializing in custom and factory-made Western hats and fedoras.
Justin Boots
Justin was one of the first companies to use decorative stitching to stiffen the boot leather, preventing it from folding around the ankles. In 1925, the company moved from Spanish Fort to Fort Worth to capitalize on the city’s growth.

Construction will begin next month on the abandoned Armour & Co. Packing Plant in the Stockyards. The building on East Exchange Avenue will be converted into office space, with new elevators, stairs, and repairs to the outside. The $8 million project is expected to take one year to complete.
Coming Soon
Dayne’s Craft Barbecue is moving its planned storefront from Camp Bowie West to Aledo. Last summer, the restaurant announced plans to open in Westland, but financial hurdles forced owners Dayne and Ashley Weaver to look elsewhere. The restaurant will be open at 100 S. Front St. this fall.
Number
$4 billion. That’s the annual economic impact TCU administrators expect the Burnett School of Medicine could have on Fort Worth by 2030. According to a Tripp Umbach study, the school is also expected to generate about 31,000 jobs for North Texas.
Biz
Applications are now open for TechFW’s 12-week accelerator program. The local nonprofit helps entrepreneurs bring innovative tech to the market that aims to advance the commercialization of biotech, medtech, and digital health technologies. Applications are open through Wednesday, Sept. 13.
Ranked
The Ashton and Hotel Drover made Travel + Leisure’s list of 5 Favorite Hotels in Dallas-Fort Worth for 2023. The awards were decided by more than 165,000 readers with rooms, facilities, location, food, and overall value in mind. The Ashton ranked No. 2 and Hotel Drover ranked No. 4.

Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop reopened on Camp Bowie Boulevard with new owners last week. Mike and Jessica Barakat own both the Fort Worth + Mansfield locations and are baking flavors like Nanny’s pecan, southern custard, key lime, and peanut butter cream.

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for — Brix Barbecue teased a soft opening later this week. The restaurant said guests can expect cold Lone Star Beer and new items from the Brix Squad at its storefront at 1012 S. Main St.
