Ready for outdoor adventures this summer? All signs point to Greenville, SC, known for gorgeous mountain trails and waterfalls. In honor of National Get Outdoors Day this Saturday, we’re taking it outside. Here’s our roundup of must-visit scenic spots in Greenville:
Caesars Head State Park
Caesars Head State Park gives hikers an accessible, panoramic view of a natural wonder and the 13,000 acres of pristine mountain woodland that is the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area. Spend the day hiking, enjoying waterfall views, fishing, and more.
Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail
The Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail is a 23-mile multi-use trail system that runs along the Reedy River connecting restaurants, schools, parks, and other local businesses. Guests can enjoy fun, non-motorized recreation and transportation opportunities.
Looking for adventure? This is the perfect place to try geocaching, a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. There are 60+ active geocaches located within approximately two-tenths of a mile from the trail with more being hidden every day.
Falls Park on the Reedy
Be at the center of it all.Falls Park is home to the iconic Liberty Bridge and located right in the middle of downtown Greenville, making it a convenient compromise between spending time in the city and in the great outdoors.
Unity Park
Welcome to Greenville’s newest park. Unity Park features four state-of-the-art playgrounds, a 4,100-sqft splash pad, two expansive green spaces, covered picnic tables, and a welcome center with restrooms + flexible event space.
The 60-acre park also offers basketball courts, a historic baseball field, and three pedestrian bridges spanning the Reedy River.
Paris Mountain State Park
Enjoy 15 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking and an 8-acre lake to swim, paddle, and fish at Paris Mountain State Park. Hit the water via kayak, canoe, or pedal-boat with rentals are available on weekends. Bonus: Visitors can stay overnight at one of the park’s 39 paved camp sites (includes individual water and electrical hookups).

Starting in July, the city will initiate monthly testing for cancer-causing chemicals in the water system. Following a new EPA national standard, the water department will screen for PFAS chemicals and explore funding options for treatment studies. The National Juneteenth Museum has a new funding partner. The upcoming institution teamed up with Meta to help fund the complex and create a 3D virtual tour that will be released in the fall. The museum is expected to open in 2025.
Sports
The Rangers are on fire. After beating the Seattle Mariners in three games (2-0, 16-6, and 12-3) over the weekend, the team is first in the American League West and second overall.
Jobs
Want to be a summer lifeguard? People ages 15+ are invited to apply at Hurricane Harbor in Arlington for part-time positions that pay $13.25-$14.50 per hour and include perks like free lifeguard certification and park passes for friends and family.
Fort Worthian
North Texas native Kelly Clarkson has been named the 2024 Texas State Musician by the Texas Commission on the Arts. The artist, who rose to fame after winning the first season of “American Idol,” will serve a one-year term representing the state’s artistic legacy.

While a new state law is working to eliminate required automobile safety inspections starting in 2025, North Texans will still need them. Tarrant, Parker, Dallas, and Denton counties are among the 17 counties that will continue to mandate annual tests. (Texas Tribune)

Do you love a Saturday morning on the Trinity Trails or an evening jog through the park? If so, now’s your chance to get involved in the future of Cowtown’s outdoor spaces.
Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) recently hired local landscape architecture firm Dunaway Associates to work on the TRWD Recreation Master Plan. The $317,700 contract is set to be complete by the end of the year.
The master plan — the first in more than 10 years — will help preserve and enhance the 100+ mile Trinity Trail system, four lakes, three major parks, as well as associated recreation areas, event spaces, and activities.
