“My favorite’s Gouda” 🧀

Chef Scotty Scott opens grilled cheese food truck at The Holly

Local chef Scotty Scott has a new venture and we got a tasty sneak peek. Cheezy Does It is a grilled cheese food truck located at The Holly, just off of South Main Street.

The cooking connoisseur of foodie blog Cook Drank Eat and author of “Fix Me a Plate: Traditional and New School Soul Food Recipesknows comfort food. And what’s more comforting than a grilled cheese sandwich? In our opinion, pretty much nothing — especially when paired with a crisp glass of natural wine.

The menu — spelled out in colorful alphabet refrigerator magnets — features fun twists on traditional sammies. We tried:

🍎 Goud Butt | A crunchy Gouda grilled delight with truffle butter, mint, and an apple slice

🍗 Alabammy Bird | A savory and salty sandwich with pecan smoked chicken smothered in provolone, topped with Alabama white barbecue sauce and avocado

🥪 Cheesy Joe | A fresh take on a homestyle white bread Sloppy Joe

Pair your grilled cheese with a side of warm duck fat home fries and chimichurri aioli or a briny cucumber salad.

Cheezy Does It officially opens Saturday, March 4. Stop by Thursday-Sunday for an ooey-gooey grilled cheese washed down with a glass (or bottle) of one of The Holly’s small-batch natural wines.

If you’re ready to chow down on new eats, check out the other restaurants opening in Cowtown this year or explore other food trucks around Funkytown.

Tarrant Area Food Bank breaks ground on a new AgHub

The Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony today for a new agricultural food hub in the Foundry District.

The Sid Richardson Agricultural Hub (AgHub) will allow TAFB to increase the organization’s fresh produce distribution by 10%. The 7,500-sqft facility will take in food from local farmers — as well as growers in South Texas and Arizona — to sort and redistribute to 500 local food banks and agencies.

TAFB director Julie Butner said the AgHub (205 N. Vacek St.) will help at least 450,000 people across 13 counties.

According to a recent filing, the project will cost an estimated $3.5 million and also includes an office renovation for the distribution center on Cullen Street and the addition of a larger cooler. The total construction project will measure 43,000+ sqft and wrap up at the beginning of August.

Check out some of the other services the TAFB offers.
    THE WRAP

Today’s issue was written by Kate.

Editor’s pick: Did we stump y’all with our February news quiz on Monday? No one got a perfect score — not surprising with the 200+ pieces of news we covered last month.

The most missed question: How many candidates are running for City Council? The May 6 ballot will feature 30 names.

Shoutout to readers Shirley and David for scoring 8/10 — but we’ll all follow Ted Lasso’s advice and “be a goldfish.” March kicks off today and we’re starting anew. Happy reading.
